Three Rogue Cattle

Cows on M1Three rogue cattle wandered over to the M1 near MovieWorld today. The helpful hands of the Aussie Outback Spectacular were nearby to give assistance. Their skill and expertise could not wrangle up the strays in time, and police shot the cattle.

The article doesn’t say if the cattle were from the show, but the situation raises some interesting questions. Maybe the show performers aren’t cowboys at all? Maybe the cattle are the real actors, learning when to “moo” and when to “moove”. If these cattle were from the show, in respect of their escape attempt, I hope they don’t end up becoming good aussie tucker for the ol’ Outback Spectac.

Gold Coast Titans

This past Friday, Nadine took me to a pre-season game for the Jet* Gold Coast Titans. It’s rather exciting because it’s one of the first times that the team is playing. The team are the newest addition to the National Rugby League, bringing the number of teams up to 16. They’re currently playing out of Cararra stadium but plans are underway to develop a new stadium called Skilled Park in Robina by the end of 2008.

Titans smashed the Penrith Panthers 28-6 in front of a crowd of 13,457. Had Nadine and I not gone, the tally would have been 13,455. In some numerological way we felt special. We enjoyed stepping outside of the Bond-sphere for a night and being a part of the larger community.

Robina is developing rather quickly as a suburb with Delfin popping up new developments every week, Market square almost ready for prime time, and a new transportation hub coming in the next few years. Compounded with a new stadium coming next year, Robina will be quite a comfortable place to live.
