The photo you see is my workplace at home, currently our dining room. It is here that I do most of my work and make my decisions. I’ve always had an interest in visualizing where different people are sitting when I’m talking to them. So I’ll satisfy the urge for someone else if mine cannot be quenched by seeing you.It is in this chair that I ponder my next move and start to plan a career. I still have a semester and a half left of school, but the time is now to start applying to graduate positions. For the time being, I’ve applied to some firms in Queensland, and considering others around Australia and Southeast Asia.
While the logistics still need to be logic’d, I guess this is a indication that the next few years of my life may be spent away from Canada. I’ll keep you apprised as my opportunities present themselves, and who knows I could end up anywhere that’s lucrative enough. These student debts are not paying themselves!
Hoping to see a glimpse into my future, I went with Nadine into Brisbane on Friday afternoon. We drove into the CBD and visited some of the courts in the area.
Glimpse indeed, I shadowed a property settlement conference and one of the parties was over an hour late! I’ve heard some of the horror stories of property conveyancers but I felt their frustration today. Had the party been any more late there would have been serious ramifications for some parties involved.
We also saw these mechanical Kangaroos scattered throughout the city.

Roo For Dinner
First off, I got a haircut, second off, that’s me eating kangaroo roast for dinner. It is commercially available in regular grocery stores like Woolworth’s. Nadine eyed it on our last trip and simply had to cook it for me. The experience was not all that novel as I ‘have’ had kangaroo before. When I visited my cousin down in Sydney we went to a cook your own meat BBQ restaurant, its name eludes me. Anyhow, I can report that this roo tasted much better than the one I cooked on my own. We also gave samples to other house dwellers who found it quite enjoyable and would recommend it to friends.
CLSA Welcome BBQ
Aside you’ll see a group shot of the last remnants of the most recent Canadian Law Students Association welcoming BBQ. By this time most of our patrons had shuffled along to their tutorials, leaving some university executives, Australian-Canadian wannabees, and the Canadians themselves. The food was splendid and the event itself did a wonderful job of building a tight friendship amongst the Canadian law students (and all others who attended). We’re a special bunch down here, certainly a force to be ‘reckoned’ with on campus. Whatever that means.
Por’s Goodbye
Well, our good friend Por is sailing the high skies to Thailand. He graduated last semester and recently returned to convocate and have some more good times with friends. He had a great idea to throw a BBQ as a nice way to say goodbye to his friends. It’s a good thing that he’s such a good planner because the party went off without a hitch, and we even had people show up!
We presented Por with a DVD of photos of his time at Bond and all of the party patrons signed the DVD cover. If you’re browsing the black markets of Thailand and come across a DVD titled, “Por Knows” please let me know!
See you soon Por!

This past weekend we looked after a Jack Russel named ‘Nudgee’. He was well behaved aside from the occasional mess. While he was only with us for the weekend he had a lot of wonderful adventures exploring Varsity Lakes. It was quite nice to have a little ball of energy keep us entertained in the house.
It is highly likely that Nudgee will be back for another weekend visit in the future. Keep peeled.
