2/6 of a JD

Bond KangarooIt’s amazing to think that I’ve already finished a third of my degree. As time flies by, I realize that I’ve learned much and appreciate having a basic foundation of legal knowledge. As I run the legal gamut I continue to annoy those around me with my pedantic observations. I can only hope that my professors see the same attention to detail in my exam efforts.

With this semester down, I can now quip on:

Criminal Procedure - Arrest and investigation, rights of accused(questioning,etc..), court procedure, grounds/procedure for appeal, sentencing methodologies!
Contract Law - Offer/acceptance, consideration, warranty/exclusion clauses, actions in estoppel.
Australian Constitution - Various Commonwealth powers assumed via s 51 of the australian constitution and their application.
Civil Remedies - The outcomes of civil actions, damages in contract & tort, injunctions, specific performance, many more..

It’s vacation time now, three weeks until school officially begins. Plans include relaxing and not thinking about law for a while. Nadine and I plan to live up Gold Coast life and enjoy the culture that exists outside of the university bubble. I’ll keep you all apprised of the exciting moments.

Exam Season

Library Books

Exam Schedule

  • Tue AM: Contracts
  • Wed AM: Criminal Law B
  • Thu PM: Civil Remedies
  • Fri AM: Constitutional Law

It’s exam season again back on Bond campus. It’s relatively quiet outside with the buzz of activity happening around the librarys and computer labs. My schedule is tight this semester and I’m relying on our week off to study to get a solid grounding in each course before exams begin next week.

For the upcoming break, I’ll be calling the Gold Coast my home and making day trips out and about. Exploring the beaches and attractions around me including, Movie/Dream/Seaworld, the Hinterlands and much more (really!)… Check back for exciting adventures and travels..Study Notes

Postcard Update

Due to exam study, postcards likely won’t be mailed out until after my exams. They will be sent out before April closes.

Haiku Competition: Results

After thoughtful deliberation, the results are ready to be announced.

Haiku Competition: Gold MedalFirst Place

Bob Davis is the unanimous choice for the gold medal. His dedication to ‘ku’ing has seen no limits. From the subtleties of seasons, to the artfulness of the anagram, Bob has demonstrated it all.

I wrote this haiku
upsidedown in the winter
Gent gathers fall leaves

-Bob Davis

(Anagrammed)

Glean inner insane
translate strange nasal gruntin’
tis alien slur

- Bob Davis

Second Place

Haiku Competition: Silver Medal

Silver mention to Peace for a heartwarming tale of a lonely Aussie Gent. I’ve always heard that Tasmania was a small place.

A lonely Aussie
when in need of a fanny
always turns Tassie

-Peace

Third PlaceHaik Competition: Bronze Medal

Running with stereotypes, Mhairi pulls out a bronze effort. Her succinct depiction of New Zealand gentlemen is bang-on!

Australian gent,
Don’t forget to love that sheep.
Oops! New Zealand gent.

-Mhairi

Everyone else’s place?

Overwhelmed by the thunderous response, I felt it necessary to show my appreciation to everyone who participated! You may not have came first, second, or third, but you do have a place and I want to know what it is.

So, I endeavour to send a postcard to everyone who wrote a haiku, you’ll be contacted in due time about your particulars.

Leave a comment when you get the postcard, I’ll endeavour to send them all out by April 7.

Thanks to everyone for your participation. Look forward to more events of a similar nature.
